Type: Difuse Nebula, Star Forming Region
he M42 Great Orion Nebula is a stellar nursery located in the Orion constellation and is the closest large star-forming region to Earth, about 1,350 to 1,500 light-years away. It is a bright cloud of dust and gas, visible to the naked eye as a fuzzy patch in Orion's "sword". At its heart is the Trapezium Cluster, a group of young, hot stars that illuminate the surrounding gas, creating the nebula's glow.
To the left is the Running Man Nebula, also known as NGC 1977 or Sh2-279, is a reflection and emission nebula in the Orion constellation, located in the area of Orion's Sword about 1,500 light-years away.
